This is my very first Google Summer of Code experience. I have been waiting so eagerly to participate on this year's GSoC. I have went through many organizations which had been nominated from Google. Out of many organizations, it was really difficult for me to choose which one I should target as my primary organization that I wanted to work on. However I was able to filter them out and get into 4 organizations.

  • Apache Foundation
  • Eclipse Community
  • WSO2
  • OpenMRS

My primary selection criteria was my confident to work on those projects despite the reputation of those organizations. I have decided WSO2 as my first priority. Secondly OpenMRS which is an open source foundation for healthcare sector. It would be easier for me as I already worked on Healthcare domain over 1.5 years.

Talking about my first priority, I have followed what the Google official page mentioned. I was able to get contacted the organization and the mentors through linkedIn. Then I was able to participate an event which WSO2 organized to let the students aware about how the GSoC works and how it is important to be part of this event. So, I got more motivated to participate of this event my putting my maximum effort which of course why I'm writing this article at 1:40 a.m in the morning.

There were many fascinating projects listed under the WSO2 GSoC-2017 proposed projects. Out of all of those projects, User Managed Access based Device Sharing project took my attention. Because that project is dealing with next generation devices. AKA IoT. So, I picked it up to go ahead with.

I have just introduced myself to the email group. Hope, they will embrace me to the WSO2 GSoC-2017 community. :)
